We are seeking an exceptional, highly motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Research Associate in Nanomedicine within a newly funded EPSRC Healthcare Technology Translation Partnership project in the Centre for Nanotechnology in Medicine. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to next-generation nanotherapeutic strategies at the interface of neuro-oncology, drug delivery and translational cancer research, within a dynamic, inclusive and clinically directed research environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and characterising flexible lipid-based nanoparticle platforms for targeted delivery to the glioblastoma resection margin, including liposomal systems and dual-agent loading strategies.
  • Contributing to the design, delivery and analysis of experimental studies exploring postoperative therapeutic intervention in glioblastoma.
  • Exploring and benchmarking alternative delivery modalities, including advanced lipid nanoparticles, other nanoparticle systems and viral vectors, where appropriate.
  • Working collaboratively across the Nanotherapeutics Lab, Manchester Cancer Research Centre, Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre, international partners and AstraZeneca.

About You

We welcome applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and career paths. You should be able to demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

  • A PhD, or equivalent research experience, in nanomedicine, pharmaceutics, drug delivery, biomaterials, cancer research or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in nanoparticle formulation, characterisation and/or evaluation, ideally including lipid-based delivery systems or related therapeutic platforms.
  • Evidence of scientific initiative, independence and the ability to contribute effectively to high-quality research outputs.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise your own workload, communicate clearly, and work respectfully with colleagues, collaborators and partners.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in neuro-oncology, glioblastoma models, translational cancer research or postoperative therapeutic strategies.
  • Experience with nucleic acid delivery, advanced lipid nanoparticle formulations, viral vectors, imaging or multi-modal therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience contributing to publications, grant development, collaborative projects or research activity with clinical, industry or international partners.

Our benefits include:
