London South Bank University is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Business Intelligence & Planning (this role is known internally as Head of Planning & Performance) to play a pivotal role in driving the delivery of the LSBU Group's 2030 Connecting Strategy.
This is a high-profile leadership role within the Strategy, Planning and Performance (SPP) team, responsible for leading the University's approach to planning, performance insight, regulatory reporting, and risk management. Working closely with the Director of Strategic Initiatives & Performance, you will help embed an insight-led culture across the Group, ensuring that leaders have access to high-quality analysis and evidence to support decision-making, drive improvement, and deliver strategic priorities.
You will lead a team of planning, business intelligence, and performance professionals, overseeing the development of performance frameworks, KPIs, dashboards, and management information that provide a clear understanding of organisational performance. You will also be responsible for coordinating the Group's business planning cycle, ensuring that strategic objectives are translated into meaningful plans and measurable outcomes across Academic Colleges and Professional Services.
About You
You will be an experienced planning, performance and/or a business intelligence professional with a strong track record of using data and insight to inform organisational decision-making and strategic planning. You will have significant experience working with senior leaders, translating complex data into clear and compelling narratives, and influencing positive change at institutional level.
You will possess excellent analytical and leadership skills, with experience managing high-performing teams and delivering complex projects in a fast-paced environment. You will be confident working with management information systems and data visualisation tools such as Power BI and will have a strong understanding of performance measurement, reporting, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Ideally, you will bring experience of higher education planning and regulatory reporting, together with a detailed understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. You will be skilled at building trusted relationships, fostering collaboration across organisational boundaries, and developing a culture where data is accessible, trusted, and actively used to improve performance.
