JUST-Systems is a £5.6 million research programme, funded by the UKRI ‘Systems approaches to advance the UK’s transition to net zero’. This funding opportunity is supported through UKRI’s strategic theme Building a Green Future, one of the five strategic themes of UKRI which look to address major national and global challenges. This flagship initiative aims to drive the realisation of a just, prosperous, sustainable and resilient net zero transition in the UK with stakeholder engagement, people and place at its core.
JUST-Systems is one of two flagship programmes to be successful in the UK. It is developing and applying several initiatives that place people and communities at the centre of the transition to Net Zero, accelerating action on decarbonisation, local development, housing, fuel poverty and social justice. Working across five UK case studies (Aberdeen, Clackmannanshire, East Ayrshire, Reading and Wales) JUST-Systems will deliver new interdisciplinary systems science and training for researchers, support early career researchers, and build capacity across communities, business and government to deliver people and place centred approaches.
The role of the Knowledge Exchange Officer is to lead on community liaison and engagement in the Aberdeen case study that centres on Torry. This role will act as a bridge between the research activities in JUST-Systems, our partnership with key local organisations and the community of Torry where our work is addressing the interlinked issues of housing, sustainable local development, fuel poverty and retrofit.
Salary will be at Grade 6, £38,784.00 per annum pro rata for 0.4 FTE, actual rate of pay £15,513.60 per annum.
