Introduction
The Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (RIKE) Directorate provides expert advice and hands-on support for research administration, funding management, knowledge exchange, and professional development across all three academic faculties.
Within RIKE, the Internal Funding and Programmes Team (IFPT) manages two critical areas of institutional finance: internally-distributed funds (for impact activity, strategic capital, and research pump-priming) and Postgraduate Research (PGR) finance. The team coordinates a complex portfolio of research training grants and scholarships, including those funded by UKRI, from competition stage to final claim.
Role
This role sits within the IFPT, line-managed by the Head of Internal Funding & Programmes, whilst working in close partnership with the core PLANET administration team
The primary responsibility is to support the financial budgeting and monitoring of PGR funds linked to PLANET. Applying expert knowledge of funder and university requirements, you will provide proactive post-award management for a complex, multi-partner training grant. You will support stakeholders with grant budget management, resolve financial issues, and manage day-to-day administration, including stipend and student payments. Additionally, you will manage partner claims, reconcile accounts, and collate information for funder submissions.
Note: This is a fixed-term position (secondments not considered). A campus presence is required two days per week (one day with the IFPT team, one day with the project team).
