The Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (LCFI) is a highly interdisciplinary research centre that focusses on the challenges and opportunities posed by the future development of artificial intelligence (AI), in both the short and long term. This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team of research and support staff. Reporting to the Research Grants Administrator, the role holder will support the smooth running of LCFI through a variety of administrative tasks. This diverse and dynamic role will include the coordination of event and outreach activities, supporting its visitor programme and assisting with its new postgraduate courses, as well as providing personal assistant support to some senior academic staff.

This role is a temporary cover for maternity leave and will be fixed term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is earlier. The role is available for full-time and part-time hours (between 0.8 FTE¿1 FTE). The anticipated start date for the role is Monday 21 September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. We are looking for a flexible, resourceful individual who can learn quickly and show initiative. The role requires a good level of competence in standard software packages and strong attention to detail. You will be well-organised and able to prioritise effectively and work to tight deadlines. You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a team and to build positive working relationships with a wide variety of colleagues. Excellent communication skills are also essential.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Providing administrative support in various aspects of LCFI including research, teaching, fundraising and outreach.
  • Providing a PA/ secretarial/administrative service within the unit or to the centres' Director, Associate Director and senior staff.
  • Organising a variety of events including workshops, research conferences, alumni events, and meetings.
  • Assisting in updating the LCFI website on a regular basis and maintaining an active presence on social media platforms.
  • Acting as point of contact for enquiries to LCFI and responding to enquiries from staff, visitors, associates, alumni, and students.
  • Assisting in the management of HR related matters, such as holiday and sickness records, visitor arrangements, and recruitment administration.
  • Collecting data and assisting with monitoring resources.
