About us:
At King’s, our purpose is to put knowledge to work for the benefit of society.
Strategy 2030 builds on almost 200 years of excellence, setting out our shared ambition to respond to a changing world while remaining true to our mission. As a member of our community, you will help us deliver our ambitions across our five strategic priorities: delivering student success in and beyond the University; investing in research and education excellence; fostering innovation and entrepreneurship; building sustainable finances for a secure future; and strengthening an inclusive, collaborative and inspiring University community.
You will join one of the 9 Faculty or Global Mobility teams as one of a diverse community of professional services colleagues dedicated to supporting students throughout their journey at King’s. Working with colleagues in the Faculty/Department and in Student & Academic Services Directorate (SASD) you will help deliver high-quality services that enable student success and help ensure every student can thrive and achieve their potential.
About the role:
The Student Support Officer sits within the Student Support Team (or equivalent) supporting attendance and engagement monitoring activity.
The role is responsible for supporting student attendance monitoring, co-ordinating and providing early support for students whose engagement is a concern as well as supporting later follow up, triaging cases for escalation to specialised support staff as required and ensuring that attendance records meet UKVI and institutional requirements.
The role provides first line wellbeing and signposting support, working closely with academic staff and professional services colleagues across King’s. They will ensure that attendance and engagement monitoring requirements and policy updates are communicated to staff and students, and answer queries about the policy and process and systems used.
The post holder will work as a conduit between central services, including the Student Support and Wellbeing Service, Visa & International Student Advice and Visa Compliance teams, Global Mobility Office, programmes teams and student support staff in the department, faculty, Senior Tutors, Personal Tutors and teaching staff.
This post will be offered on a full-time basis (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a contract until 31st July 2027. Part-time applications will be considered.
This is a hybrid role and the postholder will be on-campus at least 2/3 days a week.
