Knowledge Exchange Facilitator (Fixed Term)

The Faculty of Mathematics is seeking an enthusiastic and strategically minded Knowledge Exchange Facilitator to support the development and delivery of knowledge exchange activity across the Faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the interface between world-leading mathematical research and external organisations including industry, government, public sector bodies, and wider communities. 

The postholder will play a central role in strengthening the visibility, accessibility, and real-world application of mathematical research by fostering productive collaborations and supporting impact-focused activity. The role involves developing relationships with external partners, coordinating engagement initiatives and events, supporting funding and impact development, and helping researchers communicate their work effectively to non-specialist audiences. 

The Knowledge Exchange Facilitator will contribute to a number of high-profile initiatives within the Faculty, including the Cambridge Hub for Innovative Mathematics in Research and Applications (CHIMiRA), the Cambridge QRT Lab, and the Cambridge Mathematics Placements (CMP) Programme. 

The successful candidate will work closely with academic staff, professional services colleagues, and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration, develop strategic partnerships, and support knowledge exchange activities aligned with institutional priorities. 

The role holder will: 

• Contribute to the development and implementation of the Faculty's knowledge exchange strategy;
• Build and maintain productive relationships with academic and external partners;
• Coordinate and deliver events, workshops, networking activities, and engagement initiatives;
• Support the communication of mathematical research to non-specialist external audiences through accessible content and promotional materials;
• Advise and engage with researchers on impact and knowledge exchange elements of funding applications;
• Support the development of impact case studies and reporting for institutional and funding purposes;
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on knowledge exchange activity and outcomes;
• Work collaboratively across the University's wider knowledge exchange and innovation networks.

The successful candidate will have: 

• Experience of supporting partnership development, stakeholder engagement, or knowledge exchange activity within higher education, research, innovation, or a related environment;
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with academic and external stakeholders;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex ideas for non-specialist audiences;
• Experience of organising events, workshops, or collaborative activities;
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while contributing effectively within a team;
• An understanding of the research, innovation, or higher education landscape, including research impact and funding environments;
• Strong organisational, analytical, and reporting skills. Experience of working with industry partnerships, interdisciplinary initiatives, research impact, or commercialisation support would be advantageous. Experience of working on mathematics projects (or allied areas) would also be an advantage but is not a requirement.

The role is primarily office-based within the Faculty of Mathematics, with some flexibility for hybrid working. The postholder will be expected to engage regularly in person with colleagues and external partners, and occasional travel may be required. 

Fixed-term: Funds for this post are available until 31 July 2030.
