This is a key leadership role with significant opportunity to shape the future direction of Sport at Roehampton. We are looking for someone who can build on existing strengths, develop new opportunities, strengthen partnerships and help raise the profile of Sport within the School. Our programmes are supported by an active research environment, high-quality clinical suites and laboratories to provide an inspiring environment to work.

The Role

We are recruiting to the role of Associate Professor and Head of Sport to provide academic leadership for Sport within the School of Life and Health Sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in building on the current success of our sport programmes, while shaping the next phase of their development, growth and impact.

Working closely with the Dean and Deputy Deans, you will provide a clear vision for Sport that supports academic excellence, student success, curriculum innovation and sustainable growth. You will lead and develop the sport team, strengthening a culture that enables excellence in teaching, research, knowledge exchange and professional practice.

Key responsibilities will include leading the strategic development of the sport portfolio; enhancing the quality, delivery and reputation of sport-related programmes; supporting recruitment, retention and strong student outcomes; building external partnerships and industry engagement; and using student, research and operational data to drive continuous improvement and new educational provisions.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in higher education, learning and teaching, course development and quality assurance, specifically within sport-related programmes. You will bring the academic and professional leadership needed to build excellence across a portfolio of activity, alongside a track record of success in teaching and research, enterprise or professional practice. You will also have strong staff management skills, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to lead collaboratively, solve problems and deliver to tight deadlines.
