We have created a new role to support the University of Plymouth to  help us continue to build a safe, inclusive environment where concerns are acted on and people can thrive.

About the role:

We are seeking a Safeguarding Officer to provide expert, operational support and ensure safeguarding concerns are recognised early and responded to effectively.

You will work under the direction of the Deputy Safegaurding  Lead and support a small team of Designated Safeguarding Officers.

Day to day, you will:     

• Supporting the safeguarding operational workload and incoming referrals, ensuring a responsive and agile service delivery.                                                                                                                                              
• Report into the Deputy Safeguarding Lead supporting them and the Designated Safeguarding Lead to provide safeguarding advice, guidance and training to all staff promoting best practice across the University.
• Research, interpret and manipulate data using a variety of systems, supporting the Deputy Safeguarding Lead to report on key findings.                                                                                                                                                 
• Supports the preparation of documentation for multi-agency meetings such as the University of Plymouth’s “cause for concern” process and Local Authority

For this role, you will need to be on site 4 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.

Due to the nature of this role, an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus a Children’s Barred List and Adults Barred List check will be required.

What we’re looking for:

• Experience of working in safeguarding and multi-disciplinary teams e.g. education, health care, statutory services.                                                                                                                                                                
• Experience of supporting individuals with safeguarding concerns and escalating complex cases in line with agreed protocols.                                                                                                                                                   
• Analysis, interpretation and reporting on data                                                                                                                          
• Ability to independently assess risk where safeguarding concerns arise, and seek supervision where required.
