Faculty Position in Politics

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor or above) in Political Science.

About the Role

We are seeking candidates with expertise in Quantitative Research Methods who can teach in this area alongside core Political Science courses. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's two undergraduate degrees — BSc (Honours) in Political Science and BSc (Honours) in Politics and Economics - both of which encourage students to explore Pakistan and the broader globalized world through diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives in the Social Sciences generally, and Political Science specifically.

While candidates will primarily teach undergraduate courses (three per academic year), they will also have the opportunity to teach in the Department's newly launched M.Phil. in Society, Culture, and Politics (SCP).

Candidate Profile

Candidates should have a specialization in one or two of the following subfields:

• Comparative Politics
• International Relations
• Political Economy

Applicants should demonstrate:

• A strong interest in and commitment to undergraduate teaching in Pakistan
• An active research and publishing agenda in one of the fields listed above
• A commitment to institution-building and to the intellectual life of the department and university

Requirements

Candidates must have completed their PhD or submitted their dissertation at the time of application. This is a full-time, on-campus position requiring physical presence for in-person teaching.
