About the job:

The School of Pharmacy at Queen's University Belfast invites applications for a fixed-term Teaching Fellow to provide cover during a funded Research Fellowship period (12 months, starting September 2026).

This post is within a dynamic, research-active school that delivers MPharm and BSc Pharmacy programmes to a large undergraduate cohort. The successful candidate will join a collegial team of academic staff and contribute meaningfully to both teaching delivery and the school's research culture.

The primary purpose of the role is to ensure continuity of high-quality teaching and student support across five undergraduate modules spanning pharmaceutical sciences. The role also carries a research component, with the opportunity to contribute to an internationally collaborative computational pharmacology project investigating allosteric communication in G protein-coupled receptors, using molecular dynamics simulations and network analysis.

Teaching responsibilities include delivering lectures and tutorials, supervising final-year research projects, marking examinations for a cohort of over 300 students, and providing personal tutoring to a small group of undergraduate students. Administrative duties include committee participation and contribution to programme coordination activities.

About the Person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

Essential Criteria

• We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable academic/researcher with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences or a closely related discipline, who can deliver high-quality teaching across our undergraduate pharmacy programmes while contributing to an active computational research project.
• Applicant has or is about to obtain a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, computational chemistry, or a cognate discipline.
• A demonstrable ability to deliver undergraduate teaching across pharmacy or life sciences modules is required, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse student cohorts effectively.
• Experience in molecular dynamics simulations and computational modelling of proteins, with demonstrable ability to work independently on a research programme.
• Candidates must have sufficient subject expertise in pharmaceutical sciences to deliver lectures and tutorials across MPharm and BSc Pharmacy programmes at all undergraduate levels, and the capacity to supervise final-year research projects and provide pastoral support to undergraduate students.
