The postholder will serve as Deputy Lead for the MBChB Programme (Clinical), playing a key role in supporting and enhancing clinical education across the programme.
The successful candidate will join the MBChB Senior Executive Team, which comprises the MBChB Lead, Deputy Lead for the MBChB (Early Years), Director of Teaching in Highland, GP Teaching Lead and the SMMSN Education Manager. This is a 0.5 FTE University appointment (20 hours per week), with funding provided by the University for five sessions per week dedicated to academic leadership, teaching, curriculum development, and quality enhancement of the MBChB programme. The University is keen to support the role as part of an integrated clinical academic portfolio and, subject to agreement with NHS Grampian and the circumstances of the successful candidate, additional clinical sessions may be added to align academic and clinical responsibilities within a single role.

The MBChB Programme Executive Team holds overall responsibility for the curriculum, including its ongoing development and delivery, governance and quality assurance, and student outreach and recruitment activities. While contributing to all aspects of programme leadership, the postholder will take a leading role in overseeing the clinical components of the curriculum, with responsibility for the student clinical experience and the associated processes, partnerships, and quality assurance activities. In addition, the role will support the wider provision and enhancement of clinical education across other programmes within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition.
