The Role

We are seeking an individual to work for a 0.5FTE fraction as ADR with the remaining 0.5FTE as Professor of Health Sciences. Reporting to the PVC & Dean, the Associate Dean-Research will play a pivotal role in providing effective strategic leadership and management of research across the faculty. Working hand-in-hand with the Associate Dean-Enterprise you will be responsible for the faculty strategic plan, portfolio management and implementation of key initiatives for the delivery of high-quality research, consultancy and postgraduate research student activities. As a member of the Faculty Leadership Team, you will also work strategically and collaboratively with other senior leaders including the Dean, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Planning, Research and Innovation), the Associate Pro-Vice Chancellors and Research and Innovation Institute Directors to drive performance and achievement of our strategy and vision.

The Ideal Candidate

With a well-developed research profile, you will bring your own experience of sizeable income generation through grant bids and/or KTPs or consultancy as principal investigator or project lead, commensurate with your area of health sciences expertise. Demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of the current approaches, initiatives and trends in research and innovation applicable to the higher education sector, you will understand what it takes to develop and sustain a high-quality research and innovation environment. You will be an able people leader with skills in successful change management, able to reach and influence a range of stakeholders from faculty and university to external businesses and organisations.

You should hold a professorship, ideally in a discipline aligned to the faculty focus area of health sciences in one or more of the following areas: Community health and social care, Population health and health inequalities, Prevention, rehabilitation, and wellbeing, Integrated and person-centred care, Social impact and knowledge exchange, Service innovation and transformation or Evaluation and implementation research.

The salary range for those applicants meeting our professorial criteria is £76,240 to £129,119 (depending on the professorial standing of the applicant), and an annual allowance of £3,000 (based on 0.5FTE) as an uplift to the ADR position.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 16th September.
