About the Team
The Research Contracts Team provides a highly specialised contracts service for academics undertaking groundbreaking research across the University. We draft, review, and negotiate all research-related contracts for and on behalf of the University of Sheffield. By joining us, you become part of a friendly, supportive, and high-performing team that takes pride in providing excellent customer service.

About the Role
As our Contracts Administrator, you will be part of Contracts Support Team who are the first point of contact for our team. You will interact with academic and professional services staff at all levels, alongside external organisations such as other universities, research funders, commercial businesses, government departments, and the NHS.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Triage & Enquiry Management: Handling incoming enquiries from all faculties and keeping administrative processes running like clockwork.
  • Agreement Setup: Setting up new research agreements ready for specialist review.
  • Contract Support: Drafting standard agreements, such as confidentiality agreements and variations.
  • Administration: Managing authorised signatories, updating electronic database records, and maintaining accurate digital filing and scanning systems.

Who We Are Looking For
We want a committed team player who can also work independently, bringing a high degree of personal organisation and accuracy. The role requires tact, initiative, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Communication Skills: Confidence interacting professionally with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Technical Literacy: Confidence working with databases, systems, and financial information.
  • IT Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office is crucial; experience with Google software is an advantage.

No formal degree or specific contract qualification is required. We value your practical administrative experience and motivation to learn. Full on-the-job training is provided!
