Arcadia University has been a leader in study abroad for more than 70 years. In 2009, Arcadia's Center for Education Abroad was elevated to College status and named The College of Global Studies. The College of Global Studies, known as Arcadia Abroad in the field of International Education, is the first College of its kind dedicated to the delivery and development of education abroad. Building on a tradition of over 70 years of leadership and innovation in international education and research, Arcadia Abroad provides undergraduates access to approximately 100 programs abroad in Australia, England, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland, Spain, Wales, Latin America, Southern Africa, and the United States. Students from more than 200 colleges and universities participate in Arcadia Abroad's programs abroad each year. Arcadia continuously strives to provide the highest level of support and service to its program participants wherever they are in the world. 

JOB PURPOSE

This position will be responsible for assisting with the administration of Arcadia University study abroad programs in Scotland under the supervision of the Director of Scotland programs and with the support of the Assistant Director and Director of Scotland Programs. This role supports the logistics and finance dimensions of the center with an emphasis on housing, accounting and contracts. It will assist special programs and cohort program logistics. This position also includes some aspects of a student service role, as some duties are shared among all staff including elements of health and safety emergency response. Arcadia offers a hybrid working policy. 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

This position requires a graduate with:

  1. Sufficient experience with office administration and bookkeeping;
  2. Sensitivity to student issues and an interest in working with US undergraduate students;
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  4. Excellent project management skills;
  5. Eligibility to work in the UK. 

The position desires a graduate with:

  1. Knowledge of Scottish and/or US higher education systems;
  2. Primary degree in business or accounting;
  3. Experience working with international students in Scotland;
  4. IT skills including Google Workspace, Great Plains, Salesforce. 

DIMENSION

This full-time position is based in Edinburgh. This position will report to the Director of Scotland Programs.  The position will need to become familiar with regulations and procedures of Arcadia Abroad at Arcadia University as well as Scottish university resources and support services in order to support Arcadia Abroad study abroad students in Scotland.  It is expected that the successful applicant will develop their independence in the role over time, so that they are able to work with minimal supervision following completion of a probationary period. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the potential for such development. 

Hours: This is a full-time position with evening and weekend work sometimes required and out of hours emergency phone coverage which is currently shared between 4 full time members of staff.  

Salary: £32,800 per annum paid on a monthly basis
