Postdoctoral Research Associate- Grade 7

Hours of work: Full-time, 1.0 fte (part-time considered)

Tenure: Fixed Term, available for 18 months

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in hydrology, nature-based interventions and working with communities to deliver exciting, socially relevant science? Do you want to work in an inter-disciplinary research group incorporating expertise in hydrology, geomorphology, community co-development and social science?

Based in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, you will contribute to the research project ‘CONVERSE: Community Vision for Resilient Riverscapes’. The project is a NERC-funded initiative working across sub-catchments of the Mersey basin. The project seeks to co-develop Nature-Based Intervention (NBI) design and monitoring programmes with communities and other stakeholders to establish long term and sustainable, resilient management strategies.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral researcher to sit at the heart of CONVERSE's physical science workstream. You will co-deliver the project's hydrological and environmental monitoring activities, co-developing and implementing community-led monitoring strategies and comparing these against conventional data-intensive approaches. The role requires both strong technical expertise in river science and a genuine commitment to engaged, inclusive research.

If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
