Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for a Research Associate in Climate Change and Computational Modelling. This is a postdoctoral-level appointment, but applicants within a few months of submitting their PhD thesis may be considered, and will be appointed as a Research Assistant until successful award of their PhD.

The role is available as part of a Wellcome funded Climate and Mental Health award, examining the impacts of extreme heat exposure on learning and decision-making, as relevant to mental health. This is a full-time role, based in Central Cambridge.

The primary function of this post is to undertake research and innovation. The postholder will make a substantive contribution to the design, conduct, analysis and dissemination of research within the project, working with the Principal Investigator and wider research team. This role is primarily a computational modelling and advanced data analysis position, and it is essential for the postholder to have a PhD in computational neuroscience or computational psychiatry. The successful applicant will be expected to apply advanced modelling techniques across species (mice and humans) and developmental stages (infancy and adulthood) to develop inference about uncertainty processing across these different scales. At later stages of the project, the role holder will have the opportunity to work with co-Is responsible for climate modelling and longitudinal tracking of wearables.

The post holder must have advanced programming and modelling expertise, particularly relating to computational models of behaviour and eye-tracking using a broad range of approaches, including reinforcement learning, hierarchical models, Bayesian inference etc.
