We have a fantastic opportunity for a Carpenter & Joiner Tradesperson to join us!
The Carpenter & Joiner Tradesperson is part of a team which is responsible for the maintenance, pre-planned maintenance and repairs on all building’s fabric internally and externally across the university.
In this role you will work across the university both unassisted, and as part of a team of trades and handypersons colleagues, building managers and external contractors.
To succeed in this opportunity:
You will work on your own initiative and as part of the wider Estates team.
You will have extensive experience in Carpentry & Joinery for both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
You will flex your exceptional communication and customer care skills as you respond to tasks, queries and situations which arise daily, in a professional and friendly manner and with attention to detail.
You may, at times, be asked to work a flexible working week outside of the agreed shift pattern. This could include occasional early starts, late finishes or weekend work as you will be added to the out of hours call-out rota in the trades team (once every 9 – 11 weeks, approximately). Co-manage with work colleagues the on-call rota covering colleagues’ holidays and absences when required.
Completed a full indentured apprenticeship registered with the CITB or hold a City and Guilds of London Institute Certificate NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (minimum).
Other qualification in woodworking machinery and fire door set maintenance and repairs.
A full UK driving licence is required to transport heavy equipment between widely-spaced campuses.
Collectively we want to improve and expand on the University’s approach to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). It is part of this role to contribute towards creating an inclusive culture where all our students and staff can bring their whole selves to the University.
As part of the full-time role you receive 32 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, additional days for winter closure and the opportunity to buy more.
