Abertay University is seeking a Professor in Applied Computer Science and Cybersecurity to help shape the next phase of our growth in research, innovation and education.
Abertay has built an international reputation through pioneering education and research in cybersecurity, ethical hacking and applied computing. We are recognised by the NCSC as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (Gold Award) and home to a vibrant community of researchers, educators and innovators.
This is a strategic professorial appointment. We are seeking a recognised academic leader whose research advances the theory, implementation and practical application of cybersecurity through a technical area of computer science. The successful candidate will bring an internationally recognised research profile, a strong track record of securing external investment, and a commitment to developing impactful collaborations across academia, industry and government.
You will join a Faculty with major investments in research and innovation. We lead the Abertay cyberQuarter, a nationally recognised cybersecurity innovation hub that brings together researchers, students, industry and government partners to address real-world cybersecurity challenges. We are also a key partner in CoSTAR, the UK Government's £76.5 million programme supporting innovation in virtual production and performance technologies. The Faculty has also secured substantial UKRI funding supporting innovation at the intersection of games, business and digital technologies.
As Professor, you will provide strategic leadership in research, innovation and education. You will develop and lead internationally recognised programmes of research, secure substantial external funding, mentor colleagues and doctoral researchers, shape academic strategy, and contribute to the continued growth of Abertay's national and international reputation. You will also play a key role in strengthening partnerships with industry, government, funding bodies and academic collaborators, helping to ensure that our teaching, research and innovation activities remain relevant, impactful and globally connected.
We welcome applications from candidates with a distinguished record of achievement in any technical area of computer science that contributes to cybersecurity, including but not limited to systems security, AI and cybersecurity, software security, network and distributed systems, secure computing architectures, cyber-physical systems, formal methods, privacy technologies, digital forensics and related fields. This is an opportunity to influence the future direction of a University with a long-standing commitment to making knowledge useful through applied, industry-engaged research and education.
