The role

We are seeking to recruit a RICS-qualified Real Estate professional who can bring current, practical industry knowledge into an applied academic environment. We welcome applications from those with professional experience in commercial or residential real estate, planning and development and/or real estate and property law and practice.

You do not need extensive teaching experience. What matters is your ability to translate professional practice into engaging learning experiences and to contribute to a supportive and learner-centred environment.

Your background may include working in or advising commercial or residential real estate organisations, consultancies, developers, investors or public-sector bodies. You will bring well-developed professional knowledge in at least two of the following areas:

  • Real Estate & Property Law and Practice
  • Commercial Real Estate
  • Planning and Development
  • Property Construction
  • Property Technology
  • Valuation & Real Estate Investment Management

We particularly welcome candidates who can embed real-world examples, professional casework, RICS-aligned methodologies and contemporary industry issues into their teaching.

An awareness of current national and international trends in the real estate sector is ideal.

You will design and deliver high-quality, inclusive and applied teaching informed by current professional practice. Using real-world examples, professional judgement and RICS-aligned methodologies, you will help students develop the knowledge, behaviours and ethical standards they need for their future careers.

You will contribute to curriculum and module development, assessment and feedback, and provide academic guidance to support student engagement, progression and success. You will work collaboratively with academic colleagues, industry partners and professional networks to ensure our Real Estate provision remains current and professionally relevant.

You do not need extensive teaching experience. You may instead have developed others through training, supervision, mentoring or professional practice. What matters most is your ability to communicate complex professional knowledge in an accessible and engaging way, together with an enthusiasm for supporting students from diverse backgrounds to succeed. If you are moving into academia, we will support you to develop your teaching practice and gain an academic teaching qualification.

You will also have opportunities to contribute to scholarship, applied research, innovation and knowledge exchange aligned with your professional expertise and interests.
