The Curriculum Leader will provide the academic team leadership, contribute to the delivery of excellent student outcomes; quality assurance and enhancement that is commended by the QAA; and curriculum innovation, which embeds strong collaborative working with both the University and the network. A critical focus of this role is the successful leadership of academic staff in the design, development, and implementation of new or enhanced curricula, including the International Year 1 Programme.

Reporting to the Head of Subject, you will work closely with senior colleagues within and outside of the College and be accountable for the delivery of contractually required progression rates to the University. The successful candidate will have a teaching commitment of up to 15 hours per week. 

ABOUT THE ROLE  

  • Maintain academic oversight of the delivery, assessment and monitoring of a cognate group of modules within the pathway.
  • Contribute to the appointment process of full-time and sessional staff to the programme team and provide direct line management support to Academic Tutors and Sessional Tutors, including providing feedback on their performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of academic staff through the full curriculum development lifecycle, including the successful design and launch of new programmes such as the International Year 1 Programme.
  • Contribute to programme senior management meetings as determined appropriate by the Head of Business and Economics to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Analyse student performance data at College and programme levels to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with Module Coordinators and staff from other teams on the programme to ensure that appropriate, current and relevant subject matter, academic skills and language development are integrated and embedded in the programme, aligned with the partnership articulation. 
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the college virtual learning environment (VLE). 
  • Any other duties as required from time to time by the College Senior Management Team.  
  • Design and deliver CPD programmes aligned to the Advance HE Professional Standards Framework.

ABOUT YOU  

  • PhD degree in a relevant subject or a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Fellowship (or above) of Advance HE, or willingness to achieve within 12 months.
  • Experience of delivering high-quality teaching in Economics and Statistics, informed by ongoing feedback and reflective practice.
  • A good understanding of the UK pathway education context both from a business and academic perspective.
  • Experience, and a positive track record, of academic management and quality assurance in UK further and/or higher education.
  • Demonstrable substantial experience in successfully leading, advising, and mentoring a team of academic staff to develop and implement new curricula and teaching programmes
  • Display the skills required to lead successful academic projects in partnership with other education providers (e.g., universities, international colleges), demonstrating strong stakeholder management and the ability to achieve project milestones.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading academic teams and managing staff performance (including providing feedback to another person about their performance, which achieved a positive improvement).
  • Demonstrable experience in using qualitative and quantitative data to inform strategic decision making.
  • Proven competence in teaching and administrative IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, etc.).
  • A student-centred and client-focused approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, clients and partners at a variety of levels of seniority.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work under pressure to deadlines, and occasionally extended hours.
