Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers.
This is a great opportunity for new Instrumentation Quantum & Nano Technician to join the University’s James Watt School of Engineering on a permanent basis.
In this role you will provide specialist technical expertise in support for research and teaching activities within the Quantum & Nano Technologies groups, with responsibilities for the operation, maintenance, optimisation and continuous improvement of cryogenic and low-temperature research infrastructure.
Quantum and nano technologies represent a rapidly expanding area of research and innovation, driving advances in sensing, communications, computing and advanced materials. Working as part of the Instrumentation Services Team, you will act as the technical specialist for a diverse portfolio of cryogenic research equipment, including dilution refrigerators, pulse-tube cryostats, adiabatic demagnetisation refrigerators (ADR), closed-cycle helium refrigerators and associated vacuum, compressor and gas handling systems.
You will provide specialist support to researchers, students and external partners, lead the implementation of technical solutions to complex problems, and contribute to the development of laboratory infrastructure, procedures and safe systems of work.
The role will directly support the delivery of world-leading experimental research and teaching activities within the James Watt School of Engineering.
