The role

As part of our ambitious growth strategy, we are seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Computer Science to support the continued growth of our Computer Science portfolio within the School of Electronics and Computer Science, including undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching across areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Management, Natural Language Processing, Cloud Computing and related computing disciplines. They will also contribute to curriculum development, student supervision, research activities and the wider academic life of the School.

This role requires an educator and researcher committed to delivering engaging, innovative and student-centred learning experiences while advancing research excellence. Responsibilities include teaching, assessment design, supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate projects, curriculum enhancement, scholarly activity and collaboration with industry partners.

About you

We particularly welcome applications from candidates with expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cloud Computing or related Computer Science disciplines, and experience applying these technologies to real-world challenges.

Essential requirements

  • PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience of teaching in higher education.
  • Evidence of research activity and scholarly publication.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to contribute to curriculum development and student success.
  • Commitment to collaborative working and inclusive academic practice.

Desirable requirements

  • Experience in research funding and grant applications.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian higher education regulatory frameworks (MQA and MOHE).
  • Relevant industry experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or related fields.
