Lecturer in Computer Science

Starting Salary is £49,979 per annum inclusive of London Allowance*

*This is the expected starting salary for this post however appointment at a higher point may be made for candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills and experience relevant to the role.

The Department of Computing, Security and Mathematics at Royal Holloway, University of London is looking to appoint a lecturer in Computer Science to support its research and teaching. The Department has a record of outstanding research (17th among UK Computer Science departments in REF 2021, Times Higher Education ranking), with very strong groups in Intelligent Systems, Machine Learning, Algorithms and Complexity, and Programming Languages and Systems, and made recent appointments in Quantum Computing and Software Engineering. There are strong collaborations with the Information Security Group.

The Department delivers outstanding teaching and achieves excellent results (93% CS graduates in graduate-level employment or further study within 15 months, 2025 Guardian ranking). Our software engineering teaching was hailed a ‘best practice’ example by BCS.

This post is to complement and/or strengthen our research areas. Applicants should have high quality publications and the potential to attract significant research funding. Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching delivery and undergraduate and postgraduate project supervision. The post holder will be expected to contribute strongly to the development of research impact, and will have, or have the potential to have, a strong track record in this area.

The posts are primarily based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. The University also has a Central London Campus, based in Bloomsbury, and there may be an opportunity/requirement to deliver teaching at that location.
