The groups of Andy Jones and Dan Rigden at the University of Liverpool are recruiting for a Wellcome Trust Discovery Award, "Next generation genome annotation for eukaryotic pathogens and vectors, using artificial intelligence". In this role, we are looking for an AI Bioinformatics Data Engineer, with expertise in agentic AI pipelines and large-scale data analysis, to infer gene and protein function from the VEuPathDB knowledgebase. You should have a Masters in bioinformatics, systems biology, or a related area, with expert knowledge of Python and experience using APIs to build agentic approaches with frontier LLMs, and have knowledge of protein structure tools such as AlphaFold3.
The post is available for 1 year in the first instance.
