We are seeking a Research Impact Officer to support the development, implementation, and promotion of activities and strategies to accelerate research impact, within a dynamic team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Contribute to the development, promotion, and implementation of the University and Faculty research and innovation strategies, ensuring that impact and engagement activity is fully embedded within research and innovation work streams.
  • Support researchers in identifying the potential wider benefits of their research (e.g. societal, economic, behavioural, environmental, policy, etc)
  • Develop and deliver training materials, workshops, and events to support researchers with research impact.
  • Coordinate Faculty or University led mechanisms to record, review, and evaluate impact activities, evidence and narratives for internal or external research assessment, reporting, or award nomination exercises.
  • Work closely with academic and research staff and relevant members of the professional services teams to strengthen research proposals by drafting non-technical and institutional content

About You

We are looking for someone with significant experience of supporting activities to accelerate and demonstrate the impact of academic research and/or encouraging a positive research culture. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

  • Understanding of the context that the University is operating within and an awareness of current issues facing Higher Education
  • Significant experience of working within a Higher Education Institution or similar organisational environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of meeting operational or strategic targets and deadlines and working flexibly to accommodate shifting priorities
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to both specialist and generalist audiences

Desirable Criteria:

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with experience of managing multiple work strands at the same time.
  • Possess a degree and/or substantial equivalent relevant experience.
