Head of Business Development

Full time, 37 hours per week

Salary: £47,389 to £56,535 per annum

We are looking for a Head of Business Development to lead the University’s approach to developing new external partnerships, securing funding and creating opportunities for sustainable academic growth. Based within the Centre for Academic Partnerships and Apprenticeships (CAPA), this is an opportunity to take on a senior institutional role connecting the University’s academic expertise with the needs of employers, public services and regional and national partners.

The role will focus on identifying and developing new opportunities, building senior external relationships and turning workforce and partner needs into viable new provision. You will lead the development of externally funded projects, short courses and CPD, create demand and stakeholder support for new academic programmes, and develop the business cases and funding proposals that enable ideas to move into delivery.

You will work across the University and with a wide range of external partners, including NHS organisations, employers, civic and public sector bodies. You will also represent and convene the University in external forums, bringing together funding opportunities, workforce needs and academic capability to develop new areas of activity.

We are looking for someone commercially aware, collaborative and ambitious, with a strong track record of building partnerships, securing external funding and developing income-generating activity. You will need excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills, strong financial and business planning capability, and the ability to turn complex opportunities into practical, deliverable projects.
