LSE is committed to building a diverse, equitable and truly inclusive university

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the world's leading social science universities, bringing together an international community of staff and students in the heart of London.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Research Finance Manager to join the leadership of the Research Awards team within the LSE Research and Innovation Division.

This is an excellent opportunity to lead and develop a team of Research Awards Managers while supporting the financial management of a diverse portfolio of externally funded research projects. Working in partnership with Principal Investigators, academic units and professional services colleagues, you will provide expert advice on post-award research finance, compliance and financial reporting.

A key aspect of the role is leading financial planning, analysis and management reporting for Research Centre finances. You will provide forecasting, financial insight and high-quality management information to support decision-making, financial sustainability and the successful delivery of world-leading research.

The role also offers opportunities to contribute to service improvement, reporting developments and wider initiatives across Research and Innovation, helping to shape how financial information and support are delivered across the School.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Significant finance management experience in a complex organisation, ideally within higher education, research or a comparable environment.
  • Strong knowledge of post-award research finance and funder requirements.
  • Experience of financial planning, forecasting and management reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proven ability to lead, develop and motivate staff.

In return, we offer the opportunity to play a key role in supporting research excellence at one of the world's leading universities, alongside a competitive pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent professional development opportunities.

LSE is a campus-based university and staff are expected to attend the London campus in fulfilling their role. Most staff balance working from the campus and remotely. We, therefore, encourage applications from applicants who can routinely travel to the London campus.
