The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Liverpool is undertaking an exciting period of growth of its academic staff base, and we are looking for staff to join us in leading and delivering multidisciplinary world-class civil engineering research in the key areas of net zero, climate crisis, resilience, and future cities, whilst also providing innovative, research-led teaching input to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
We are looking to develop further our maritime engineering expertise with a new Professor in Maritime Energy Engineering. Applications are encouraged from candidates from all aspects of maritime energy engineering, covering experimental, theoretical or computational modelling research in offshore energy.
The successful candidate will be an excellent researcher with ambitious future research plans who has an established track record of successful academic endeavour. Experience of working in or with the maritime energy engineering industry would be a benefit but is not essential.
Job applications are particularly welcome from women and ethnic minority candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in the School. Appointments will be made on merit only.
Interviews and presentations will take place on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 November 2026 at the University of Liverpool. Please note that we cannot offer an online interview for this post.
