About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of a portfolio of cutting‑edge clinical trials, including CTIMPs and non‑CTIMPs, within a world‑leading translational research centre. The post holder will have both strategic oversight and hands‑on responsibility for trials across major international programmes, including 3TR, SQUEEZE, MDR‑RA, and AutoPiX.
A key element of the role is the management of multi‑country studies via the Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS), including regulatory submissions, lifecycle management, and coordination of approvals across EU Member States. You will work closely with the Barts Clinical Trials Unit to ensure compliance with UK and EU regulations and maintain high standards of governance and inspection readiness.
You will lead and coordinate the clinical research team at Mile End Hospital, overseeing study set‑up, recruitment, data quality, monitoring, and reporting. The role also involves identifying and managing risks, supporting continuous improvement, and contributing to strategic planning across the clinical portfolio.
Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) is integral to the role. You will help ensure patient perspectives are embedded in study design and delivery, supporting meaningful engagement and clear communication of research findings.
About You
Applicants should have substantial experience in clinical trial management, including CTIMPs, and a strong understanding of ICH‑GCP and UK regulatory frameworks. Leadership experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams are essential.

EMR brings together a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, scientists, and data experts to advance understanding of disease mechanisms and improve patient outcomes in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus, and Sjögren’s syndrome. The Centre is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in biopsy‑driven trials, including landmark studies published in The Lancet and Nature Medicine, and plays a key role within the Bart’s NIHR Biomedical Research Centre.
