Associate/Assistant Professor in Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science (CSC) of the Faculty of Information Science and Computing (FIC) invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Computer Science. This position intends to complement and strengthen existing staff expertise. We are seeking candidate with a proven track record in scientific research, an innovative research vision, and a commitment to education.             

UM is among the top 0.1% in Essential Sciences Indicators (ESI) rankings in both Engineering and Computer Science and ranked 79th in the U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings in computer science. In the THE World University Ranks, the Computer Science programmes are ranked among the 101th – 125th, arising from its status of a local community college in less than 10 years. As a newly established department, CSC is fully built on the solid foundation of the former Department of Computer and Information Science (CIS), which was founded in 1990 and has accumulated decades of outstanding academic experience in computer science education and research. The Department has currently 38 academic staff, offering comprehensive Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degree programmes that cover core aspects of modern computer science and related technologies. CSC has equipped twelve laboratories with advanced facilities and rich software tools for its students and academic staff to develop their course projects, final year projects and R&D projects. The programmes have extensive collaboration with other institutes around the world. 

Qualifications

• PhD degree in Computer Science or related areas;
• Position will be open to all areas in Computer Science including those areas related to Networked, Mobile and Sensor Systems, Blockchain and Web3, Computer and Information Security, Agents and HCI;
• Strong background in Computer Science or related disciplines, quality research, and teaching experience at the tertiary education level;
• Good team player for participating in various aspects of the activities of the department, faculty, and university and serving the profession. 

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in January 2027 and the positions will be open until filled. 

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
