University Of The Arts London - Graphic Communication Design Programme

Location: London
Salary: £24.92 - £32.01 per hour (basic)
Hours: Part Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 14th August 2026
Closes: 3rd September 2026
Job Ref: 12670

Central Saint Martins is seeking Visiting Practitioners to teach a range of graphic design approaches within the Graphic Communication Design programme during the 2026–2027 academic year.

You will join a collaborative and supportive course team who see the course as a space for us — a community of students, tutors, and practitioners — to explore and interrogate the vast and ever-expanding field of Graphic Communication Design together.

We are seeking visiting practitioners who have subject expertise that can support our curriculum, which spans a wide range of specialist Graphic Communication Design practices and disciplinary areas. You will play a vital role in supporting students' educational experiences in relation to contemporary design practice, and your expertise and passion for your subject area will help deliver exceptional learning journeys for our students.

As a Visiting Practitioner, you will support teaching and learning across UG levels 4, 5 and 6 and, if you have an MA, PG level 7. Your main responsibility will be supporting teaching delivery by working with the GCD course teams on:

  • Workshops, seminars and taught sessions
  • Students' engagement with graphic design as a practical and critical discipline
  • Formative assessment
  • Peer learning and collaboration

This is an hourly paid role and you will be offered hours according to the needs of the courses. If appointed, you will be offered a specific set of hours.

About you

You should have some – even if small – experience of contributing to the delivery of art and design education at university level though we do welcome applications from recent graduates and those at an entry-level stage of their career.

You should be engaged with contemporary graphic design approaches and skills, with an interest in ethical and responsible design practice.

If you have any general questions or have accessibility needs, please contact csm.staffrecruit@arts.ac.uk

Closing date: 3 September 2026 23:55.

Interviews are planned for the 18 and the 21 September 2026. If you apply, please hold these dates in your diary.

UAL is committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments for all staff and students to work and learn – a university where we can be ourselves and reach our full potential. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements and Staff Support Networks. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including race, disability, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion and belief, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, and caring responsibility.
