The Role
We are recruiting to the role of Allied Health Technician to join our healthcare team and support the preparation and delivery of specialist teaching activities within the School of Life and Health Sciences. The postholder will contribute to the delivery of technical support across a range of healthcare programmes, including nursing and allied health. In addition, they will take a lead role in coordinating and delivering technical provision for Allied Health programmes (e.g. Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy and Occupational Therapy).
Key responsibilities will include preparation and setup of equipment and materials for teaching a range of clinical skills and supporting simulated learning. Previous experience of providing technical support in a similar environment is highly desirable. This hands-on role will suit someone with experience of and interest in supporting practical-based subjects in healthcare, such as: nursing, allied health, physical therapies, and broader public health and social care.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of clinical procedures, equipment and environments, and of what makes an effective clinical and/or learning environment. Experience in risk assessment, COSHH and hazardous waste disposal is desirable.
The role requires support for the preparation of specialised spaces and equipment for teaching practical sessions, ensuring all equipment is available and functional, and assistance in post session cleaning and waste disposal following guidance and standard operating procedures.
The candidate should have a relevant degree level qualification or experience of working in a clinical or clinical simulation environment.
