Teaching Fellow in International Development

Hours: 0.5 FTE

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until August 2027

This is a fixed-term teaching fellow post in the International Development Department. The post is for the period 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027. The post holder will contribute to postgraduate teaching, assessment, supervision, student support and relevant departmental administration. Main responsibilities will include the following:

• Deliver seminars and mark assignments on a PGT module, International Development, with potential to deliver some lectures in area of own expertise.
• Additional contributions to seminar teaching and marking in line with a 0.5 FTE workload as determined by departmental requirements. This is likely to involve delivering seminars and supporting marking on PGT modules, which may include Making Policy, Public Sector Reform, and Research for Public Policy and Management
• Prepare teaching materials, support student learning, provide feedback and contribute to assessment and moderation in line with departmental requirements.
• Liaise with colleagues to ensure coherent module delivery and appropriate coverage of theory, methods and case material.
• Contribute to personal tutoring and to the supervision, marking and moderation of Postgraduate dissertations as determined by departmental requirements.

Person spec

• A PhD in a subject area relevant to international development, political science, international relations or a closely related discipline.
• Relevant teaching experience and scholarship within subject specialism. 
• Proven ability to devise, advise on and manage learning. 
• Skills in managing, motivating & mentoring others. 
• Relevant teaching experience and scholarship within the subject specialism.
