About the role

The UK team of the project Transforming places for the precariously housed: Equitable adaptation pathways for climate mobilities (PATH) is seeking a transdisciplinary researcher to support with synthesis and dissemination of data collected from across four case study locations worldwide. The researcher will work closely team members in the other case study locations of Durban, Kathmandu, and Iqaluit.

We are seeking an exceptional transdisciplinary researcher to lead a piece of work that will use creative practice to enable global synthesis of research findings. This will be accompanied by qualitative analysis of data collected through the project to produce synthetic outcomes on the contribution that mobilities make to our understanding of transformational adaptation. In addition, the postholder will support in organising a dissemination workshop with a range of global stakeholders.

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed-term contract until June 2027.

Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7. About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria 

• PhD in climate change adaptation, human geography or cognate discipline   
• Expertise in transdisciplinary and co-produced research methods  
• Track record in publishing scientific articles  
• Experience using arts-based/creative approaches in co-production  
• Proven ability in qualitative data analysis using Nvivo or similar tools  
• Experience organising externally facing workshops or conferences  
• Experience working collaboratively in an international and interdisciplinary context  
• Proven ability to work independently 

Desirable criteria 

• Expertise in climate-related mobilities 
• Effective project management skills and demonstrable ability to work at pace to meet deadlines 
• Experience managing stakeholder relationships and working in a practitioner/policy context   
• Good understanding of intersectionality and best practice when working with diverse groups

Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
