Do you want to use your life science and commercial experience to make a difference to Sheffield? Join the Commercialisation team at the University of Sheffield!
We are recruiting for a motivated Commercialisation Manager for Life Sciences to join our dedicated team and support commercialisation of life science and health technologies.
We are looking for someone with a blend of life science research skills, commercial experience and a motivation to cultivate exceptional spinout companies, charities, intellectual property licences and social enterprises.
As a Commercialisation Manager you will be key to the University's research and innovation strategy, by supporting innovators to create globally-relevant spinouts while contributing to local job creation and regional economic growth. You will also support the transfer of technologies into established businesses to ensure rapid market adoption and use.
You will do this through providing support to innovators through dedicated one-on-one guidance and through co-delivery of our training programs. You will further support innovators to access funding, mentorship and valuable market research resources as you guide them through their journey from idea generation to launching their commercial ventures. You will also play an essential role in commercial negotiations with third parties relating to intellectual property licences. You will be supported to develop your skills and confidence in all of these areas through working with more experienced team members.
You will join a supportive team of 12 people but your work will create opportunities to engage with multiple parts of the university including other professional services and academic units. You will also routinely make contact with investors, incubators, other universities and mentors.
Our preferred candidate is someone who has a life science or health science research background and experience of working in a professional services or business environment.
The breadth of work undertaken by Commercialisation Managers provides excellent opportunity for professional development and previous members of the team have gone on to become spinout founders, join investment companies or secure internal promotion.
