University of Bradford

At the University of Bradford, our focus is on creating the conditions for social, cultural, and economic impact. We are committed to social inclusion. Our work to expand opportunity and enable students to reach their potential, has led to us topping the Social Mobility Index of English universities for the last five years. Our University Strategy sets out our ambitions for 2025 onwards, which we will achieve by using our proud heritage as a springboard and remaining steadfast in our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Safeguarding

The University of Bradford is committed to safeguarding, protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and Adults at Risk through robust safer recruitment practices. An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Directorate:

We require a confident and responsible individual to champion and ensure the success of the Office for Students (OfS) funded Go Higher West Yorkshire Uni Connect project in the University of Bradford.

The Uni Connect outreach programme aims to reduce the gap between the most and least represented groups in terms of progression to Higher Education.

You will work with colleagues from within the University of Bradford and across the Go Higher West Yorkshire partnership to ensure the successful delivery of the project. This will include working within the university to arrange and manage events and activities to raise attainment and aspirations, and – most importantly – support the application and transition of pupils into Higher Education. These events may take place at the University of Bradford, at a partner institution, at schools/colleges or in community locations across West Yorkshire and involve young people aged 13 to 19 and their key influencers (parents, carers, and community, teachers, advisors or other professionals). You will also work within the University of Bradford to support signposting of schools/colleges to existing outreach activity.

Celebrating Diversity – The University of Bradford

Within the Directorate of Outreach, Recruitment and Marketing, there is a lower representation of males and BAME staff in Outreach and Recruitment roles and therefore we welcome applications from individuals who represent these categories.

In return we offer:

  • 25 days holiday and 13 statutory and customary days (taken at Easter and Christmas).
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Great campus facilities

Find more information about the many other benefits, including salary sacrifice schemes and campus nursery.

Additional Information:

For enquiries prior to application, please contact Caroline Priestley (Senior Recruitment and Outreach Officer) c.priestley4@bradford.ac.uk

The role is extremely varied and requires applicants to work on a flexible basis, including occasional evenings and weekends as required and travel to locations across West Yorkshire.

This role will involve working in 2 different schools – 1 day each per week.

Confronting inequality: celebrating diversity

At the University of Bradford we accept people for who they are regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sex, marital status, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation or socio-economic background and whether you’re pregnant or on maternity leave.

In line with the University’s commitment to equality charters including Athena Swan, Race Equality Charter, Disability Confident and Stonewall Diversity Champions Programme, we welcome applications from people identifying with these characteristics. The University has a number of staff networks which provide peer support and safe spaces for staff who hold these and other identities.
