Job description:
Are you an experienced investigator looking for a new challenge?
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual, with extensive professional experience and expertise in the conduct of complex investigations, to make a significant contribution to the University's response and reputation in the area of student conduct.
You will lead and conduct investigations into allegations of student behaviour across a range of complex case areas including sexual misconduct, harassment and hate, embedding a trauma-informed approach, and adhering to policy and procedure.
You will join the University's Student Registry, as part of the Student Conduct and Appeals Team, who have responsibility for student casework covering a range of issues including student conduct, final stage appeals and complaints, responding to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (the student ombudsman), and legal cases. There will be opportunities to apply and further develop your skills in student casework, in addition to the conduct of investigations.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proven experience in the drafting of detailed, professional investigation and case work reports for different audiences, capable of withstanding scrutiny and potential challenge.
You will work independently on your own cases, but also work collaboratively as a team of two with another Investigator, and with the other managers and case workers. You will liaise with a wide range of contacts including colleagues at all levels, students, their representatives and external bodies (such as the police) where appropriate.
There will be opportunities to appear before Student Discipline Panels to present cases.
As this role involves highly sensitive and confidential information, you will have an excellent understanding of the handling of such information appropriately and in line with good practice and legal requirements.
You will have an awareness of and active engagement with the need for diversity and inclusion, and exercise a high degree of initiative, and professional judgement at all times.
This role offers the opportunity to lead on the development and implementation of local procedures as necessary, and contribute to the continuous review and improvement of policies, procedures, processes and web-based information.
