We are seeking a committed and experienced individual to join our integrated wellbeing team in this exciting and challenging role, to provide specialist advice and support for student mental health and wellbeing and to deliver a range of interventions for students experiencing personal difficulties that may impact on their learning.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of the wider Wellbeing, Counselling and Disabity Service to ensure consistent practice towards student welfare and wellbeing issues and that concerns are responded to effectively. This may also include travel to other campuses and online/remote wellbeing support in response to service demand. This front-facing role is based full time on campus.

To provide an effective triage for student wellbeing enquiries and referrals.

To assist students who present with a range of issues relating to their student experience you will be responsible for identifying and managing risk in relation to student mental health and will seek opportunities to encourage and enable enhanced student retention and achievement. You will be able to respond appropriately to challenging situations whilst identifying barriers to student engagement. You will build positive partnerships with external NHS agencies and voluntary organisations through creative and innovative approaches.

You will work in collaboration with the Head of Wellbeing and Disability and contribute to the development of the inclusive and embedded services to support student wellbeing at the University.

About You

We are seeking to recruit an individual who displays a flexible approach with excellent planning, communication and organisational skills and who will be willing to take an active role in the development of the service, including delivering group workshops within the wider wellbeing service. 

You will need to hold a degree or equivalent, have a recognised vocational qualification e.g. accredited mental health or psychological therapy qualification, such as being a PWP, registered psychiatric nurse, occupational therapist, social worker, or counsellor), together with relevant and recent experience of supporting young people with mental health problems/issues, including experience of working with young people in distress/crisis.

You will have effective interpersonal and communication skills and will be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
