About the role
You will be part of the Front of House team, providing a warm and professional welcome to visitors at both the Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum. You will issue tickets, sell merchandise, promote Gift Aid and events, respond to visitor enquiries and help deliver a high standard of customer care.
You will reconcile tills, replenish and display retail stock, help maintain visitor areas, signage and leaflet supplies, and support the opening and closing of both sites. You will also assist with events, including meeting and greeting visitors, moving furniture and signs, and helping to set up rooms, areas and AV equipment.
This is a fixed-term post for 12 months, with the potential for extension, working part time on an annualised-hours basis: 19.5 hours per week from November to February and 22.5 hours per week from March to October. Actual working hours may vary to meet operational requirements and peak periods. You will be contractually required to work weekends, bank holidays and fixed closure days.
About You
You will have five GCSEs or equivalent, with excellent numerical skills. You will have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. You will have experience of working in a Front of House role in a busy visitor attraction or heritage site, as well as experience in retail. You will be able to remain calm under pressure, use sound judgement, and demonstrate reliability and flexibility. Experience of working with a till and manual handling training would be desirable.
