The role
The post holder will assist the Venues and Events Team in delivering high standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer service across University event venues and spaces. This includes carrying out cleaning and housekeeping duties within event spaces, meeting rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring facilities are clean, safe, hygienic and welcoming for delegates and visitors. The role contributes to the successful delivery of conferences, meetings, weddings, open days and other events whilst complying with university standards, health and safety requirements, and operational procedures.
What will you be doing?
The post holder will supervise a small team responsible for cleaning event venues and used by conference delegates, visitors and University guests. They will ensure high standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer service are consistently maintained before, during and after events. Responsibilities include allocating and monitoring daily workloads, conducting quality inspections and cleaning audits, maintaining stock levels and ensuring COSHH documentation and related records are kept up to date. The role also involves daily use of computer systems to manage work schedules, event requirements, room turnaround plans, accommodation occupancy information and operational records, supporting the efficient delivery of events and venue services.

You should apply if you have previous cleaning experience and ideally experience of supervising or leading a small team within a hospitality, accommodation, facilities or events environment. You will be able to motivate and support colleagues to deliver excellent standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer service, ensuring venues and conference areas are maintained to a first-class standard. Candidates should have a good awareness and understanding of basic health and safety requirements, including safe working practices, manual handling, COSHH and the safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential.
