Job description:

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of key employability and work experience initiatives for our students. Even if you haven’t worked in careers and employability before, as long as you have a keen interest in student development and career planning, organisation, administration and communications, you could be a great fit.

The faculty employability teams are part of the university-wide Careers & Employability Service (CES), and you'll play a key role amongst the wide team of people focused on enhancing student employability and graduate outcomes. Each faculty and academic School has specific employability priorities, closely aligned with the overall university strategy, and to support these the whole CES team works closely with academics, professional services colleagues and employers to ensure our students and graduates are equipped with the skills, experience and insight needed for career success.

This includes supporting the integration of skills development and work-related learning in all academic programmes. You'll be at the forefront of this work within our faculty-facing employability team, ensuring that students have access to valuable internships and placement year experiences, and appropriate advice and employability support.

We’re looking for excellent organisational skills, the ability to communicate with students and employers with confidence, and outstanding customer service. Strong attention to detail and proven IT skills are essential, and you’ll need to be able to take ownership of your work, with the support of your line manager.

For this role, you will:

  • Have a real interest in supporting students’ employability and career awareness.
  • Have very good organisational skills with the confidence to effectively communicate with students, colleagues and employers, ensuring excellent customer service
  • Be great at attention to detail
  • Have good systems skills and be comfortable with data and compiling reports.
  • Ideally have a keen interest in setting up and coordinating events.
