We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated research assistant to work on an NIHR-funded study, BRaINS-TBI (Biomarkers for RAtional Investigation for Neurological decision Support in TBI), a UK-wide, multi-centre project investigating how biomarkers can improve care after mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). The role will be based in Cambridge, within Professor Virginia Newcombe's group, with the study coordinated by the University of East Anglia Clinical Trials Unit and involving collaborators across the UK.

The appointee will contribute to research addressing two key questions following mild TBI: whether biomarkers can help predict patient outcomes, and whether they can reduce the number of unnecessary CT brain scans performed in emergency departments. The role will focus primarily on following up recruited patients, with opportunities to get involved in other aspects of the study, including data analysis and manuscript preparation, depending on interest and experience. The post holder will receive appropriate training as required.

The appointee will have a minimum Bachelor's degree in a scientific, medical, or health-related discipline. Experience of clinical research, patient contact, or data collection would be advantageous.

The position will be based in the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Applicants will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive and dynamic research environment.

Please note that this position is subject to funding limitations, and the successful candidate must be available to commence employment by 1st December 2026 at the latest, and the appointment will end no later than 31st December 2028.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
