Birmingham Newman University are seeking a full-time Health, Safety and Wellbeing Administrator to work full-time. This role is primarily office-based, with the option for some remote working each week depending on business need.

The post of Health, Safety and Wellbeing Administrator provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced Administrator to join a busy Human Resources (HR) Directorate in a varied and interesting role.

The recently created role is responsible for providing an effective administrative support service, primarily for the Health, Safety and Wellbeing function, within the wider HR team. As such, the post holder will have the opportunity to develop their experience and skills in a professional higher education environment and make a real contribution to the overall delivering of an effective service to the University.

You will have recent demonstratable experience of working in a busy customer-focused administrative role, preferably with Health and Safety and/or Human Resources area,  as part of a proactive and efficient team. You will act as a first point of contact for health and safety matters, dealing with internal and external stakeholders in a timely, clear and professional manner. You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting a range of University committees and meetings with effective and efficient secretarial support.
  • Supporting with financial administrative processes, digital filing and record-keeping, admin support for projects and initiatives Organising meetings with both staff internal and external visitors.
  • Supporting in the organisation of University events and functions.
  • Supporting with the preparation of reports through undertaking research and collating information from other areas of the University as required.
  • Supporting in the monitoring and management of a number of shared team inboxes.

The successful candidate should have:

  • A good general level of education up to level 3 qualification in a relevant area (i.e. an advanced post-GCSE study, equivalent to A Levels)
  • Proven experience of providing effective administrative support in a large and complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of committee/meeting administration, including agenda management and minute-taking.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) web-based database systems
  • Excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion and confidentiality with a working knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulations.
