Qualitative Researcher in Behavioural Science

Location: Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford

Applications are invited for a Qualitative Researcher in Behavioural Science to join project teams led by Dr Marta Wanat, Professor Sarah Tonkin-Crine, Dr Caity Roleston and Dr Helen Ashdown. The successful candidates will contribute to programmes of research focused on antimicrobial resistance and/or respiratory conditions.

There are two available posts:

Post 1: The postholder will work across a portfolio of research projects focused on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the management of respiratory conditions in primary care. These projects are funded by leading research funders, including UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR). This post is funded at 1 FTE.

Post 2: The postholder will work on the ‘EMOTIVE-AMS’ programme, funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). This programme focuses on developing emotion-informed messaging to optimise prescribing and reduce inappropriate antibiotic use in both human and veterinary community settings. This post is funded at 0.8 FTE.

The successful applicants will undertake qualitative research, including collecting and analysing data from interviews and focus groups; analysing data using established qualitative methodologies and behavioural science frameworks; contributing to the design, administration and analysis of online surveys; and conducting systematic literature reviews. The role also requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail in research coordination and delivery, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and excellent written communication skills.

The successful candidates will have a strong interest in qualitative research methods, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary research teams. An interest in antimicrobial resistance, antibiotic stewardship, and/or the management of respiratory conditions would be an advantage. The successful applicants will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers working to improve antibiotic use and respiratory care through high-quality behavioural and implementation research.

You will be based in the Gibson building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work but you may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

The positions are funded for 24 months in the first instance, with the potential for extension.
