We're looking for a confident and proactive Market Research Manager to join the Product and Market Research Team at the University of Sheffield on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality market research and insight that supports student recruitment, admissions, marketing and portfolio development across the University. Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, you'll help ensure decision making is informed by robust evidence, market intelligence and a deep understanding of prospective student behaviour.

In this role, you'll:

  • Lead the development and delivery of a range of market research projects, using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
  • Design, commission, manage and evaluate research activities including surveys, focus groups, interviews and other fieldwork.
  • Analyse and interpret data from multiple sources, identifying key trends, opportunities and areas of concern.
  • Present research findings through reports, presentations and stakeholder meetings, translating complex information into clear and actionable insight.
  • Manage relationships with external research agencies, including commissioning and evaluating research projects where appropriate.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market developments and emerging trends to support strategic planning and service improvement.
  • Contribute to portfolio development activity by identifying market opportunities and sharing evidence based recommendations with stakeholders.
  • Increase organisational understanding of prospective student behaviour by bringing together insight from a range of internal and external sources.
  • Promote good practice in data collection, evaluation and monitoring across student recruitment and admissions activity.
  • Champion the use of evidence, research and insight to inform decision making and continuous improvement.

We think this role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has significant experience delivering market research projects and managing the full research lifecycle.
  • Is confident using both qualitative and quantitative research methods to generate actionable insight.
  • Has strong analytical skills and experience interpreting data from multiple sources.
  • Communicates complex findings clearly and effectively through written reports and presentations.
  • Enjoys building relationships and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Has excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.
  • Is curious, proactive and committed to using evidence to influence strategic decision making.
