About the role
The University of Leicester School of Business is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in Healthcare Management to provide academic leadership in teaching, scholarship and programme development across healthcare management and related management disciplines. In this senior role, you will design, develop and deliver high-quality learning experiences at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, while contributing to the School’s growing portfolio of campus-based, distance learning and executive education programmes. You will also supervise postgraduate research students and play a leading role in curriculum innovation, including the meaningful integration of AI and digital learning approaches.
Working closely with colleagues across the School, College and University, you will contribute to the development of the School’s ‘Citizens of Change’ agenda through engagement with business, policymakers and other external stakeholders. You will provide academic leadership through programme and module development, quality assurance activities, mentoring of colleagues, student recruitment initiatives and wider School service responsibilities.
About you
You will hold a PhD in Healthcare Management or a closely related discipline and have recognised expertise within your field. You will bring substantial experience of delivering excellent teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, together with a strong record of programme leadership, curriculum development and doctoral supervision. Expertise and experience of digital, remote/distance-learning provision are essential, as is a commitment to pedagogic innovation and the enhancement of the student experience. You will either hold Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or equivalent) or be willing to achieve this within an agreed timeframe.
You will be an effective academic leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build productive relationships with colleagues, students and external partners. You will have the ability to motivate, mentor and develop others, contribute to strategic initiatives and lead change across programmes and teams. Experience of postgraduate and distance-learning programme development is essential, and experience of quality assurance processes and teaching within healthcare management, business or management education will be advantageous. Above all, you will share our commitment to educational excellence and to preparing students to address contemporary challenges in healthcare and management.
