The University of Aberdeen is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Building Clerk of Works to join our professional Estates and Commercial services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing a diverse estate that supports world-class teaching, research, and student life.

We're looking for a proactive and self-motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and takes pride in delivering quality outcomes. 

You will bring: 

  • A recognised building trade background and practical construction experience.
  • Sound knowledge of building maintenance and building fabric systems.
  • Experience coordinating minor refurbishment works.
  • Familiarity with computerised maintenance management systems.
  • Working knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. 

Working within the Building Clerk of Works team, you'll contribute to the delivery of high-quality building fabric maintenance, refurbishment, and minor works across our campuses and associated properties. You'll ensure that works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards while supporting the University's commitment to providing exceptional facilities: 

  • Monitor and inspect building maintenance, refurbishment, and construction activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee minor works from planning through to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Support reactive, planned, and statutory maintenance programmes.
  • Utilise computerised maintenance management systems to manage and record activities.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors, stakeholders, and colleagues across the University estate. 

Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 6, £38,784 - £46,049 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
