About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Operating Department Practitioner to join its School of Healthcare as a Lecturer in Operating Department Practice (Teaching Focused). In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of research-inspired education across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, drawing on your professional expertise to provide high-quality teaching, assessment and student support. You will play an important part in the development of innovative and inclusive curricula, contribute to teaching leadership within the School, and help create outstanding learning experiences that prepare students for successful healthcare careers.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, students and external partners, you will contribute to programme development, placement support, outreach and employability activities, while engaging in pedagogic scholarship that enhances teaching practice and student outcomes. About you

You will be a registered Operating Department Practitioner with the Health and Care Professions Council and hold a recognised professional qualification in Operating Department Practice. You will bring experience of working as an Operating Department Practitioner together with experience of teaching and supporting learners in higher education or clinical settings. A degree in a health or education-related subject, a commitment to professional and pedagogic development, and a strong understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion are essential. Fellowship of the HEA, an equivalent teaching qualification, or a willingness to achieve one within an agreed timeframe will also be required.

You will possess excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build effective relationships with students, colleagues and external stakeholders. You will be committed to delivering an outstanding student experience through high-quality teaching, mentoring and pastoral support, while contributing to the wider academic life of the School and University.
