Are you passionate about IT support and delivering excellent customer service? Join the Computing Support Group (CSG) within the Department of Computing at Imperial College London, a world-leading computer science department.
As a Computer Support Officer (Help Desk), you will be the first point of contact for staff, students and visitors, providing friendly, responsive and effective IT support in a busy academic environment. You’ll troubleshoot a broad range of technical issues, from user accounts and hardware to networks, AV and teaching environments, ensuring our users receive a high-quality support experience from initial contact through to resolution.
You’ll also play an important role in supporting teaching, research and student projects, while contributing to service improvements, documentation and the adoption of new technologies. Working collaboratively with colleagues and external suppliers, you’ll help deliver reliable, secure and user-focused IT services across the Department.
We’re looking for someone with experience in an IT support, service desk or customer-facing technical role, with strong troubleshooting skills and a good understanding of desktop environments and IT hardware. Experience supporting Windows, macOS and Linux is desirable, along with knowledge of networking, IT infrastructure and diagnostic and security tools. Familiarity with Linux package management systems such as apt and yum would be an advantage.
You’ll be a confident communicator and problem solver who enjoys helping both technical and non-technical users. You’ll be organised, able to prioritise competing requests and comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
In return, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your career at a world-leading institution, with a sector-leading benefits package including 43 days’ annual leave, generous pension schemes, flexible working from day one, family leave, on-site leisure facilities and a cycle-to-work scheme.
Join us and help provide the technology that enables world-class teaching, research and innovation.
